The theater at Saint Constantine follows a traditional ensemble model: plays are cast from one core group of Upper School students who train together year-round.
This approach to theatrical work is as practical as it is philosophical. In addition to helping actors hone their individual technique and depth, the ensemble model places the focus of theatrical work where it belongs: the human being in intentional relationship to another - to their character, to themselves, to their scene partner, to their audience, and to their Creator.
Whether or not a play is in production, this ensemble meets twice each week to work and play together. Outside of play rehearsals, then, actors in the ensemble can count on training in physical and vocal technique, monologue and scene-work, improvisation, script literacy and analysis, and more.
Saint Constantine's theater also offers a yearly Production class, which trains students in the technical aspects of set, costume, and lighting design and construction. Students do not need to be a member of the ensemble to enroll in Theater Production.
