Physical Education Teacher Description and Responsibilities:
1. Teaching—The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for the instruction of foundational physical activity, sports, sportsmanship, and healthy living to PreK – 6th grade. The P.E. Teacher will:
a. Work with the other P.E. faculty in establishing an appropriate sequence of skill acquisition.
b. Teach student healthy and age appropriate exercise goals and proper movement.
c. Expose students to and instruct them a wide variety of games and sports.
d. Help students set physical goals to achieve over the year.
e. Establish and maintain a syllabus for the class that clearly outlines for parents the goals, learning outcomes, and work you expect the students to accomplish in the year.
f. Maintain grade books for all students, updating grades and comments (when applicable) every two weeks or more.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Teaching experience in a classical, Charlotte Mason, or Waldorf school preferred. Extensive personal and/or professional experience in working with children. Excellent rapport with students of all ages. Experience, special skills, and interest in coaching and children’s sports preferred. Strong understanding of the ethos and values of The Saint Constantine School philosophy of education and play.
